Become a professional diver

Who is the Divemaster?

The Divemaster title is the first professional degree in a diving career. This means that with this title you can work as a licensed dive guide around the world. Without having this professional degree, no dive center can offer you a job. No matter how experienced diver you are. The Divemaster degree is also required for your further development, if you someday decide to become a diving instructor

However, if you want to have a better chance in the job market and find the best deals, you need not only a Divemaster’s license, but also experience. That’s why we created our program to teach you not only how to dive, but how a dive center works. During your internship you will have the opportunity to learn how to operate a compressor, how to work on a dive boat, as well as elements of management and customer service. In a word, you will learn all the elements that your employer will require of you. But that’s not all! You will also learn about the principles of personal branding, as well as proven “tricks” that allow you to be among the most desirable professional divers.

About me

Ever since I discovered climbing and diving for myself, I knew it would be a never-ending adventure. That since there are so many interesting places above and below the water in the world, why not make it possible for everyone to see them. I have been a mountain climber and cave explorer most of my life and have had the honor of participating in many amazing exploration expeditions. I have been professionally involved in scuba diving and dive training for more than a dozen years now.

At Costa Rica Divers, I am the manager and chief instructor. We take great care of the quality of training, so I personally teach or supervise all dive courses. Dive and snorkel tours led by our guides and Divemasters are also directly coordinated by me. You are in good hands!

We are proud to say that we are a PADI accredited diving center. This means not only high quality services and training, but also appropriate technical and logistical preparation. In order to obtain the status of a PADI dive center, it is necessary to meet a number of strict conditions and provide services at the required level at all times. If you are thinking about choosing the right place for your scuba diving course, then PADI dive centers will be the right choice.

What is a dive resort?

Not everyone can meet the requirements for an accredited dive center, and their capabilities are limited for various reasons. Then they can apply for a lower status, which is called a dive resort. What implications does this have for you as a customer? Let me give you an example – a small neighborhood store is nice, but when you want to do complete shopping, you prefer a well-equipped place.

How can I check the status of a dive center?

A PADI accredited dive center is a guarantee of a high level of service and adequate technical support. Obtaining status is a multi-step process that requires proof of high quality service. However, PADI dive center status is only granted for one year and we have to renew our license every year. This is to maintain a consistent level and reassure customers that they have made the right choice. You can check on the PADI website to see if the dive school of your choice has renewed status and what level it is.

Just visit this site and check it out: https://locator.padi.com

How do I check my dive instructor license?

Another important issue is the instructor’s license. Every instructor who wants to conduct diving courses must have an instructor’s license, which must be renewed every year. This ensures not only that the training is of high quality, but also that we are up to date with industry standards. Similar to dive center licenses, instructors also have different levels of certification to teach different levels of courses. At Costa Rica Divers we train at all levels, from basic courses, through specialty courses such as night diving, to the professional PADI Divemaster level. If you want to know more about the diving instructor license and how to check its validity, here is a detailed guide on the subject: how to check the scuba instructor qualifications?
