Every diver sooner or later thinks about deep diving. Sometimes a nice wreck is just under 30 meters and you need to get proper training to see it. On the PADI Deep Diver course you will learn how to properly plan a deep dive and how to manage air. You will learn how to deal with emergencies as well as the common nitrogen narcosis.

This may sound serious, but believe me it’s nothing scary as long as you know how to behave and act. That’s why the PADI Deep Diver Specialization course will allow you to extend your diving skills and qualifications up to 40m (130ft). The PADI Deep Diver course is also an introduction and one of the requirements to join the technical training.

Why take the PADI Deep Diver course with Costa Rica Divers?

Deep diving is something that tempts almost every diver. Trying yourself at greater depths, feeling nitrogen narcosis or pushing your own limits are just a few of the reasons why you want to do the PADI Deep Diver course. Since diving deeper than 30 meters is a responsible task, there are no shortcuts.

Getting your license will not be easy, and before that happens, you both need to be sure that you know what to do at that depth. If you are looking for good knowledge and at the same time experienced instructors and technical divers, you have come to the right place. Otherwise, you need to keep looking.

But why is our diving course different from other diving schools?

With us, you will not only receive good training and small groups of students, but you will also receive completely free of charge:

Deep diving requires some additional skills and understanding of the physical aspects of being at great depths. This is what the PADI Deep Diver course prepares you for. You will learn how to plan a safe dive, manage air, but most of all you will understand perfectly what is no decompression limit (NDL). After completing the training you will receive a certificate authorizing you to dive to the maximum depth of 40m (130ft).

We conduct our PADI deep diving course in Costa Rica in accordance with all safety and training standards. The course will begin with a theory class where you will learn new information about the physics of diving and potential hazards. We will then do 4 training dives where you will plan and conduct deep dives. We will finish at least one of the dives at a depth of about 40 meters.

During the class you will prepare not only a dive plan, but also a rescue plan in case of any problems. You will also prepare and use an additional tank that will be placed at a depth of about 5 meters to allow you to make a safety stop in case of lack of air in the main tank. You will practice many scenarios that can happen during a deep dive.

We have prepared answers to the most frequently asked questions about our PADI Deep Diver Specialty course in Costa Rica. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

What will I learn in this course?

PADI Deep Diver training is designed to prepare you to perform deep dives up to 40m in no-decompression limits. To be able to perform such dives and not to expose yourself to trouble, you need knowledge and skills. Therefore, one of the basic conditions for taking this course is to have an advanced diver’s license. After completing the training you will receive a license confirming your training in deep diving.

What equipment will I be using on the PADI Deep Diver course?

Deep diving training entitles you to descend to a maximum depth of 40 m (130 ft). This is also the maximum depth available to recreational divers. Only technical divers who have been trained to perform long decompression dives should descend below this limit. Therefore, during the PADI Deep Diver training we will use standard equipment for recreational divers.

Where will I dive during the PADI Deep Diver training?

At our dive center in Costa Rica, we dive in one of the most interesting dive sites, which is Isla del Cano. At least one dive day of your training will take place at dive sites around this island. Depending on conditions and time of year, training can also be done in Marino Ballena National Park.
