PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

For scuba diving enthusiasts seeking to broaden their underwater horizons, the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification is the perfect next step. Building upon the foundation of the Open Water Diver certification, the Advanced Open Water Diver course offers new opportunities to explore the depths and expand your diving skills.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to enhance your scuba diving skills and introduce you to new diving environments and activities. Unlike the Open Water Diver course, which focuses on basic diving skills and safety, the Advanced Open Water Diver course provides a more hands-on and immersive learning experience. Through a series of Adventure Dives, you’ll gain practical knowledge and experience in specific diving specialties.

Become an advanced diver in Costa Rica

The heart of the Advanced Open Water Diver course lies in the Adventure Dives. These dives allow you to gain experience and knowledge in different diving specialties under the guidance of a certified PADI instructor. Some popular Adventure Dives include underwater photography, wreck diving, drift diving, night diving, and fish identification. These dives provide a taste of various specialties and help you discover new areas of interest within the world of scuba diving.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course serves as a natural progression from the basic scuba diving course, but it doesn’t require advanced diving skills to participate. In fact, it’s highly recommended to take both courses in succession for a seamless learning experience. By enrolling in the Advanced Open Water Diver course, you’ll gain valuable insights and techniques to enhance your underwater performance.

During the course, you’ll develop better body control while diving and acquire advanced skills in diving and navigation. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course also extends the depth limit to 30 meters (100 feet), allowing you to explore deeper underwater realms. This comprehensive training program offers a fantastic opportunity to refine your diving abilities.

In the theoretical segment of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, you will acquire foundational knowledge through the provided e-learning materials upon enrollment. Collaborating with your instructor, you will engage in discussions about the acquired knowledge and strategize your upcoming dives.

One of the mandatory Adventure Dives is the Deep Dive, which allows you to explore depths between 18 and 30 meters (60 and 100 feet). During this dive, you’ll learn about the effects of increased pressure and how to plan and execute deep dives safely. Deep diving opens up a whole new world of underwater exploration, where you may encounter different marine life and dive sites that were previously inaccessible.

Another required Adventure Dive is the Underwater Navigation Dive. This dive focuses on honing your navigation skills, teaching you how to use a compass and natural underwater landmarks to navigate with accuracy. Mastering underwater navigation is an essential skill for divers, enabling you to confidently explore new dive sites, find your way back to the starting point, and navigate safely through underwater environments.

Advanced Diver Course Dives

In addition to the Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation Dive, you have the flexibility to choose three additional Adventure Dives that align with your interests and goals. This allows you to customize your learning experience and explore areas that pique your curiosity. Whether you want to try underwater photography, learn about marine conservation, or experience the thrill of diving in currents, there are numerous specialties to choose from.
