A diving course in Costa Rica is a great way to actively spend your vacation in the tropics. Our diving center offers PADI courses, upon completion of which you will receive an international license entitling you to dive to a depth of 18m. This diving course takes place in the Marino Ballena National Park in Uvita. You will do four dives and discover the beauty of this underwater world.

Course Details

The first step in any diver’s journey is the PADI Open Water Diver course. In this course you will learn how to operate scuba equipment, how to plan and conduct fun and safe diving. After completing the course, you will receive an international PADI OWD license which entitles you to dive all over the world to a depth of 18m.

You must be at least 15 years of age to take part in the PADI Open Water Diver Scuba Diving Course. Students aged 10 to 15 will receive a PADI Junior Open Water Diver license.

Our courses are conducted with PADI materials that will allow you to learn all the basics on your own, which you will later discuss with your instructor.

What to Expect

You have made the decision to start a diving course and you want to learn how to be a good diver. The PADI Open Water Diver diving course will allow you to earn a PADI diver’s license.

The diving course consists of three parts:

Theoretical part – you will learn here the basics of diving, gas physics and equipment operation. Don’t worry, everything is set up easily and easily. As part of this diving course, you will receive an electronic book that will be the basis for your learning.

Practical part in the pool – during the classes in the pool, you will learn how to use the equipment, the correct position of the body during diving, and you will perform a dozen or so different exercises.

Open Water Dives – the final part of this scuba course will be to complete four open water dives. We will do these dives in the Marino Ballena National Park in Uvita.

After successfully passing all parts of the course, you will officially become a diver!

How long is the diving course?

The diving course consists of three parts. You will do the theoretical part yourself with the help of electronic materials from PADI. You can do this at any time, even before coming to Costa Rica. Then we need three days to do the pool part and four open water dives. We do these dives in the Marino Ballena National Park. So, answering the question of how long does it take to complete a diving course – you need three days of practical classes.


Do I need any experience to start a diving course?

Absolutely not. This is a basic course designed to teach you everything you need to know about diving. Of course, later you can attend other courses to expand your knowledge. If you are not sure if the diving course is for you, but you want to try diving, we also have something for you. The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program will allow you to peek below the surface of the water. 


Is it possible to do the diving course elsewhere?
