The PADI eLearning – what it is exactly?
The diving course consists of three parts. A theoretical part, a practical class in the pool and 4 dives in open water. To obtain a PADI diver’s license you must pass all these parts. How long does it all take? Well, the answer may vary, but the fact is that you can get your license in just 3 days! How is this possible? Thanks to PADI eLearning, which will allow you to start learning from home or anywhere, long before you arrive at the dive center.
So what exactly is PADI eLearning? It’s all diving theory packaged in an accessible multimedia format where you can easily understand any topic. Access to these materials is remote, so you can use the eLearning package anywhere and on any device. This saves you time and instead of sitting with a book on your dream vacation, you go straight into action. That is, scuba diving!
Diving training in the PADI system
The PADI is one of many diving instructor organizations from which you can start your diving adventure. However, this does not mean that it is the only one and you must necessarily choose this diving organization. In fact, it is not the logo that is most important, but the instructor who will teach you. You can read more about it here: what is the best scuba diving organization?
However, if you choose PADI then you have the option of using the PADI e-learning package for most of the courses included in the training program. This really simplifies the task and speeds up the learning process. Of course, it’s not as if the course takes place without an instructor. It’s just that the part you have to learn on your own anyway, you can do much earlier, rather than during the course.
Theoretical training with the PADI eLearning
Your theory training will begin with access to the PADI e-learning package. Each such training code is one-time and assigned to a specific student. Once you get this access, you will be able to start your training. And it is really simple and the entire training package will take you through the theory step by step.
Importantly, you can repeat the training, return to specific parts, and have no limited time to complete it. Have a break in your work? You can go through the next few pages of material. Are you too busy to complete the course? No problem, you can come back to it at a later date. That’s how the modern PADI eLearning dive training package works. It is simply convenient and fun to use.
Which PADI eLearning product is right for me?
If you have decided to take a PADI diver course, then as I mentioned above, almost every course has an e-learning package. There is no room for confusion and if you are doing the PADI Open Water diver course then you will receive the PADI e-learning package for that particular course. It’s very simple and convenient and there’s no way you can miss something.
How much does PADI eLearning cost?
You can buy the PADI e-learning package yourself on the PADI website, and the price depends on the type of course. For example, see that for the Open Water course this package costs $202 on the official website. You can buy it through the site and start training even today.
However, it is worth checking the offers of dive schools, especially the one you intend to use. Let me give you an example of our PADI authorized dive center in Costa Rica. Our diving courses include in the price all the elments of good training, including the PADI e-learning package. The price is final and definitive, so you don’t have to worry about any additional costs. Unfortunately, this is not the norm and often dive centers quote a price without training materials or equipment rental. They tempt you with a slightly lower price, which ultimately turns out to be much higher because you have to pay additional fees.
Can I do a scuba diving course any other way?
If you don’t want to use the PADI e-learning package then the traditional form of using the book is also available. However, this requires the active participation of an instructor during your theory school. This means that you can only take the course using the book when you arrive at the dive center. Therefore, using electronic materials is simply much more convenient and faster. However, as I mentioned, you can ask at your dive center for a paper book.
Is PADI eLearning available in my language?
I know how important it is to understand new information, especially when it comes to diving. Interestingly, theoretical training can be done as e-learning in one of 28 languages. That’s how many language versions the training package is available in. So there is a good chance that your language is also on this list.
Available languages are: English, Espanol, Français, Nederlands, Deutsch, Italiano,
How long is the PADI eLearning access valid?
There is a time limit in which you must complete the theory training. Each PADI e-learning package is valid for 12 months from the time you first log in. However, don’t worry if you forget and your training is lost. Before the 12-month period expires, you will receive an emial reminding you of the training you have started. You will receive such a reminder 90 days and again 60 days before expiration. If your training has already expired then contact your dive center or dive instructor to discuss what options you have for completing the course.
PADI eLearning – let’s recap
As you can see, dive training is really very easy and fun. Even the theory part, which you may have feared, will be nothing but fun. Thanks to PADI’s modern e-learning package, you can start your dive training from home. Then all you have to do is find a dive center where, under the guidance of an instructor, you will go through the next two steps of training and obtain your diver’s license. So what are you waiting for?
