Yes, this tour is only for certified divers with a minimum PADI Scuba Diver certification. If you are not certified yet, we offer beginner programs that allow you to experience scuba diving under the guidance of a professional instructor. We offer 1, 2, or 3 dives during the trip, depending on your preference. Each dive takes place at a different site around Caño Island, allowing you to explore diverse underwater landscapes and marine life. Let us know how many dives you’d like to include when booking your tour!

The dive sites around Caño Island are carefully selected to offer the best underwater experience. However, since this is a protected marine reserve, site availability depends not only on ocean conditions but also on the approval of the biological reserve rangers. While we always strive to choose the best dive spots for our guests, we cannot guarantee specific locations until we check in with the rangers on the day of the trip. This ensures the protection of the marine ecosystem while still providing an incredible diving experience.

At Caño Island, you can expect to see a wide variety of marine life, making it one of the best dive spots in Costa Rica. Some of the highlights include sea turtles, reef sharks, manta rays, and an abundance of tropical fish like parrotfish, angelfish, and pufferfish. And during the boat ride to the island, you may have the chance to spot whales during the migration season, which typically occurs from July to October and December to March.The vibrant coral reefs and crystal-clear waters make it an unforgettable diving experience! It’s important to remember that Caño Island is a natural environment that is constantly changing, not a zoo. As such, we cannot guarantee the conditions, visibility, or exactly what marine life we will encounter during the dive. Every dive is unique, and part of the beauty of scuba diving here is the thrill of discovering the wonders of the ocean in its natural state.
